Burnt Orange, Mosman Sydney

One of the things I liked best about Sydney was the abundance of space and the beautiful outdoors.

Burnt Orange, a concept retail store cum cafe set amidst lush greenery of an old golf club, only 15 minutes from where we stayed, was the perfect place to enjoy the best of Sydney.

The burger was fresh and juicy.

DH had the salmon patty with salad, and it was refreshingly tart.

I had the signature seafood pie, and it was rich and flavourfull.

Sweetie had a good time too.

And Cutie enjoyed the home-made fries.

And of course, after our lunch, we enjoyed the beautiful grounds...

Cutie found a stick that also worked well as a boomerang.

Sweetie picked flowers..

Presented the flowers to mommy..

Again..

Cutie gets some for mommy too

I love being a mommy, can you tell?

Sydney Eats Part 2

So sorry, no time to blog these days, taking care of 2 kids alone.

And when I do have some free time, it's easier to just read other blogs instead of blogging. And since the internet connection here is erratic (cos we can't afford any better!) it's annoying to try and post up pics but only to have the connection die on you, so all the effort is wasted.

Anyway, not many outdoor eats... all indoor, home-cooked eats this time.

Home-cooked by DH: whole barramundi with rosemary and thyme, served with garlic, lemon and salad.

Home-cooked by Cutie: mushroom and ham pizza.

See! I trained my boys well, they are doing all the cooking! While the girls do the eating!

Here are some of the things that the girls' team served:

Fried Veg with taupok

grilled tumeric and lemongrass chicken

baked pasta

We almost always eat porridge for lunch. Different permutations of meat (fish or chicken or beef) with 2 kinds of veg (1 root veg like carrot, sweet potato or pumpkin and 1 green veg like bok choy, kailan etc).

Fish with pumpkin and veg I think

Chicken with scallop and mushroom I think

For a change I sometimes cook rice noodles instead of porridge (with the same main ingredients) but it's too messy feeding 2 kids noodles, so i think I will stick to porridge.

For dinner it is always 1 meat, 1 veg served with rice. So a few nights ago, we had:

Veg with mushroom and scallop

Baked fish two styles (one with rosemary and thyme and one with diced black olives)

We also always round off with fruit for dessert

White and yellow peaches (DH prefers the white ones!)

Berries (Straw and Blue)

Sydney Eats

Hi Folks, sorry for the long hiatus!

I have been busy with relocation.

And now, here are the things that we have been eating...

Fresh seafood and fish at the iconic Sydney Fish Market:

Jordon's Seafood Restaurant at Darling Harbour:

Seafood Platter for 2, impressive looking, but freshness was only so so.

Our best restaurant experience so far, Wildfire at The Rocks (facing the Sydney Opera House):

Super ultra fresh oysters. You know how sometimes in Singapore when you eat oysters, even if they are fresh there is that metallic taste of the sea? Well, over here, it tasted Sweet! and Fresh and sublime! and no funny smell.

DH had the wagyu beef and I had the angus beef and they were both delicious.

We didnt find a marked difference between the 2, so we concluded that the wagyu didnt have a high marbling index and that the beef here in Aussieland is so good anyway it wasnt really necessary to upgrade.

Our souffle which was fluffy and delicious.. and because it was a hazelnut souffle it was super rich too. The other souffles that I have had (at Au Petit Salut) were all fruit ones (like passionfruit) so they tasted somewhat sour.

Lunchtime specials can be really cheap here. Here is our 9 dollar rumpsteak! What great value! Funny thing, the caesar's salad on the menu cost more - $14! They tell me, here in Aussieland, some things which we think should be more expensive are cheap and vice versa (like salads more ex than some meats, chicken breastmeat more ex than chicken drumsticks, fruits are super sweet and ch

And DH bought himself a new toy. We have been indulging in one capsule everyday.
