The braised chicken noodles at this old coffeeshop along East Coast Road is simply fantastic. It's next to Katong Mall, but DH and I can't remember the exact address.
The chicken is tender and flavourful, and even the breastmeat tastes very good. The portions are very generous and prices are more than reasonable. With the addition of some roast pork, this packet of chicken drumstick noodles cost only SGD4.
DH also brought home some tau kwa pau from the original tau kwa pau people (as the person we usually frequent was closed for New Year). Verdict? I prefer the tau kwa pau from Mary's Corner. It is more generous with the filling, and it tastes fresh. This one tasted like it was fried with stale oil and the crispy bits weren't crispy at all.
